Thus far, I have learned and read about:
Respiratory complications
Large for gestational age, small for gestational age, intrauterine growth restriction, macrosomia
Quite the sundry of congenital cardiac diseases
Seizure disorders
Infections - this is a huge one (GBS disease, HIV, HSV, hepatitis B, CMV, the list goes on..........)
The different types of jaundice
Coming up:
Birth injuries
Congenital anomalies
Inborn errors of metabolism
Chemical dependency and the sequelae for the newborn
My head hurts right now.

What frightens me is that non-CNM midwives so often do not know what they don't know...

Non-CNM midwives pretty much know nothing. After all, all their education comes from a correspondence course.
Frontier IS a lot like a correspondence course, and there is nothing wrong with that. You do much of your learning on your own.
It is the same way with medical schools these days. You can download your notes and get broadcasted lectures at many facilities. For instance, Michigan State operates this way.
Congrats on learning such valuable information to help the sickest of babies!
